Hope this finds you all doing well and that for those of you in the northern hemisphere, you're having a great summer so far.
I've decided to add on to this Blog and share a bit more on some of the things I do and answer some of the questions many of you ask as we chat about photography.
One thing that many folks constantly ask me and I wanted to address here, is on how to improve photo skills or simply how to take better photos. There are a lot of tutorials, blogs and articles both online and in print on how to do just about any number of things in every imaginable field. I'm not an instructor by any stretch of the imagination, but thought that by sharing some of my experiences I may be able to guide in the search for answers and help someone in some form.
From my own experience -particularly in photography-, I find that the best way to learn something is through trial and error, → "do it to learn it", as opposed to "learn to do it". On that note, finding something I've never done before and setting out to do it is both fun to me and also a learning experience wrapped into one.
As I embark on that specific task, I sometimes face challenges that bring up more questions, that as I move along in the process of finding answers to get it done, end up making me more knowledgeable in that particular scenario.
I encourage you all to pick up a topic, something you're curious about, something you're having challenges with, whereas it's shooting in natural light, not using flash or whatever topic you can think, and give it a try. You don't have to have expensive, fancy equipment to do any of it and no matter what your results are, I guarantee you will learn something in the process.
I am going to do a random 30-day photo challenge I've seen posted and try some different things even if I don't have my work camera and all I have is a smartphone with me, and will post the photos each day on my Facebook page.
If any of you are interested, go ahead and do it. You don't have to share your results with me (or in public) but I think it would be cool if you did and we all may just learn something from it. Feel free to "Like" that page and post your images there.
Thank you all for your continued support, friendship and I hope you have a great weekend.
