Following with my most recent entries, here's an account of what we did on Day #4 during our exploration trip in North Dakota some weeks ago. As usual, not everything went as planned and we had to improvise but I think it went well when it was all said and done. Check out the clip and watch how we did. Thank you again for visiting my website and checking out my VideoBlog. Have a great day. See you next time! -Mario

Continuing from my previous Blog entry, the rest of Day #3 was not as dark and somber as the morning. We hit the road as the skies were clearing and found some nice locations which provided some very tasteful photography conditions. Watch the video, check out part of what we saw and feel free to leave a comment if you wish. Thank you for watching. See you next time! -Mario So, things have been ridiculously busy on my end and had to put the VideoBlog editing on hold for a little bit. Well, I'm back and here is what happened on day #3, ...well, part of it anyway. We're still in North Dakota, checking out locations for future photography workshops and on this day, we intended to not only check out and shoot at this particular location, but also add a human element to the scene through character-driven model photography. Unfortunately, the location was far beyond destroyed and wasn't what I expected it to be for this specific character. It simply would not have worked for what I had in mind, so I decided to pass on that particular point. We did explore the location as safely as we could and got a pretty good idea of what could and could not be done in regards to a workshop there. It was a good experience overall and I'm glad we were able to visit it. Check out the video which includes a bit of history on the location itself. Enjoy and hope you stay tuned for the follow-up clip on the rest of the day. Thank you for watching! -Mario So here's part 2 of our 2nd day in the northern plains as we scout locations for photography workshops. Ran into a few setbacks as some of the locations in our target list no longer existed. I suppose that's part of 'the game' when you're dealing with old structures. They only stay old for so long before they either collapse or are demolished. We did come across a number of interesting sites along the way. North Dakota is so full of interesting, mysterious and beautiful landscapes, it's pretty hard to go far without running into something fascinating. In any event, check out the clip below and hope you enjoy it. Thank you again for watching and I'll see you next time. -Mario It's a new day with new things to see and photograph. Here's the beginning to day #2 of the North Dakota location scouting trek. Thank you for watching. See you on my next installment! -Mario So here's the 2nd location for the day. It really is a beautiful area but the mosquitos (yes, even at this time of year) were relentless and not even the repellents were effective enough. Ughh! In any case, we had a great time and were able to locate, secure and photograph this location and many of the interesting things that it had. Here's a clip with a brief account and images of what I was able to see and do. Thank you again for watching and reading my blog. More to come in the next several days. See you next time! -Mario We made it unto our 1st location. It's an interesting place with lots of potential for different purposes. Watch the clip and enjoy the images. Thank you for watching & checking out my blog. Stay tuned for more updates. -Mario We made it to our 1st destination..! More to follow. Stay tuned! -Mario So, thinking ahead for 2017 and plans for future teaching workshops, I find myself along with a group a partners, heading to the northern plains on a location scouting trek. I'm trying to keep things relatively simple as I document this excursion and give you all a glimpse on what I'm seeing while out this way. Check it out and stay tuned for more updates. -Mario This past weekend, I went to the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Kenosha, WI. For those who may not be familiar with BRF, it is a place that recreates a time when knights were noble, maids were merry and turkey legs were to die for. It takes you back in time to a festive village, celebrating a visiting Queen Elizabeth the late 1570s. You find yourself surrounded by villagers in period garb, fairies, folks in a variety of costumes and everyone is having a fabulous time eating, drinking and being as merry as the law allows. As they proudly say, "...revelry is the order of the day!"
I particularly loved photographing the fairies, as I love the colors and their playfulness as they frolic around interacting with people. They never say a word, but they say so much through their gestures and demeanor. I liked photographing the jousting events. Those are action-packed and are quite entertaining. There are a couple of those per day, so I shot each one of those from a different angle just to get a more complete account of it. 'The Queen's Feast' was an interesting affair. Lots of different characters did their part in entertaining the Queen and the crowd for it. Photographing this, was fun for me. I did not see all of the different acts and entertainers that were featured on that day as there simply is too much to see all in one day. I did get to see a couple very interesting ones. This year marked the debut of an Aerial Silk Fantasy act, in which a girl by the name of Lauryn Murray would showcase her skills by floating practically effortlessly, a staggering 30 feet above an area known as Shakespeare’s Meadow. It was quite impressive to see how gracefully she managed to do that & more in the name of entertainment. I definitely had a great time and will be visiting them again next year.
